We are always learning, improving, and trying to master our craft. If I'm not in the tunnel, field prop-station, or market I typically am trying to better my knowledge about growing techniques and strategies so I can improve my farm. Below are a few of the many resources I've consumed that I have found extremely helpful in regards to starting a farm, building healthy soil, crop growing, and the like.
This book is easy to digest and is chocked full of growing tips land management practices. It is such a quick and easy read I can re-consume all it's information in one sitting.
The Living Soil Handbook- Frost
This book breaks down the mysteries of soil into small bite sized pieces. It also has a great few sections on crop specifics.
The Winter Harvest Handbook- Coleman
A wonderful handbook for everyone stretching the growing season to provide year round food.
The Market Gardner- Fortier
A classic how-to book in the market garden world. This book discusses in depth different corps and their rotations as well as how to design and set up a small farm.
This course is a cornucopia of information. Conor provides detailed information about how to start a farm from the ground up. This courses curriculum is continually being added to. It truly is a fantastic resource.
The New Organic Grower- Coleman
This is a great book as a general reference for market farms. It touches on many of the how-tos and whys of small market gardens.
